Hello. I have a problem mirroring my Macbook Pro (MacOS 10.13 High Sierra). Video delays from audio stream, fps is very low. I connected both devices through AC wifi. Macbook shows: 527-720mbps, ezcast: 292-340 mbps PHY rate. There are no problems with ios 10 devices. Ezcast is working under linux, please open root access to it, I want to tune it for maximum performance.

I used the EZCast Dongle for education, It is wonderful product for education.
However it has a problem that my students see the wi-fi password on main screen.
I don't want the wi-fi password to show on main screen.
Can you add the function for hidden wi-fi password on main screen by next upgrade firmware?

Dear Bill Chan,

Thanks for your email.
You can hide the EZCast Wi-Fi password by EZCast app>Setting>Password and click "Arrow down".
However, it can be seen for a few seconds before hiding.
For education, we suggest using EZCast Pro. EZCast Pro supports password hidden immediately when boots up.
Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for all the great work! Is a firmware update in the works which would fix the recent critical network vulnerabilities discovered (dnsmasq, krack) - among other earlier discovered ones?
May I kindly request access to the source code of the open source things running on the EZCast dongle (the whole linux system and the bootloader as well)?

Thank you very much,
Istvan

Hi Pityu,

Sorry, what do you mean about "recent critical network vulnerabilities discovered (dnsmasq, krack) " issue? It's appreciated if you would provide us the details. Based on your information, it may help us to improve our product.
May we know your dongle SSID and firmware version?

Thanks.

Hi MissEZCast,

Thanks for the quick reply! :) Sure thing. Please find the details here: https://www.krackattacks.com/ and https://access.redhat.com/security/vuln ... es/3199382 .
Please note that these are only two of the most recent critical security vulnerabilities that probably affect the wireless EZcast products (dnsmasq may affect the wired ones as well), there may be more depending on the version of linux kernel and software components used.
[edit: http://www.cvedetails.com/ is a great place to look up these possible other threats]
[edit2: I am not able to check (at the moment) if it still works and I'm sure you are aware of this, but just for reference there is this report of an old firmware as well: https://blog.checkpoint.com/2016/01/07/ ... ching-you/ and this: https://github.com/c3c/miracast/blob/ma ... f?raw=true ]

Sadly I can't look up the SSID right now as I'm 2000km away from my dongle, but I will let you know whenever possible. It supposedly runs the latest firmware which is probably 16224000 (the last time I saw it a few months ago it was running this version). Would you need the SSID for releasing the source code? Is it because there are different versions of the dongle? (In any case mine is the older FullHD HDMI one - not the 4K, not the 5G, not the wired and not the one shaped like Google's Chromecast if there's anything like that - but I'll look up the SSID for you when I travel home next time!)

Thank you for your help in advance!
All the best,
Istvan

Hi,

Sorry if I sound impatient, is there any news on this? You know that the GPL code used in the EZCast products (the linux kernel, the userland utilities and probably the bootloader as well) force you by law to publish the exact code used in those products (the exact way there are being used modifications included), right? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Gener ... ic_License
Hoping to see some advance on this.

Cheers,
Istvan
