How do I get this firmware on my stick?

Until today I had 12xxx on it and it claimed to have the latest firmware installed. The repair tool installed 13891. The device still shows the 5G boot logo. The ESSID is EZCast-BDXXXXXX (not EZCast5G-BDXXXXXX :?: ).

I think EZCastUpgrage destroyed my stick in the sense it can no longer upgrade it (set Vendor to invalid value or something else). I'm still stuck on 13982. I had a look on what EZCastUpgrage does:

Code: Select all

POST /upgrade/ota_rx.php HTTP/1.1
User-Agent: EZCastUpgrage
Host: www.iezvu.com
Content-Length: 188
Cache-Control: no-cache

{
        "version":      1,
        "vendor":       "esselte ",
        "mac_address":  "authorshxj",
        "softap_ssid":  "000000-00000000",
        "firmware_version":     "13982"
}

Code: Select all

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Server: nginx
Date: Fri, 09 Sep 2016 17:45:49 GMT
Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Connection: keep-alive
Vary: Accept-Encoding
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.5.9-1ubuntu4.19

{"ota_conf_file":null,"ota_fw_file":null,"ota_enforce":null}

It looks like this:

When I changed the vendor from "esselte " to "esselte" (no trailing space) the response changed to:

Code: Select all

{"ota_conf_file":"http://www.iezvu.com/upgrade/esselte/esselte-13982.conf","ota_fw_file":"http://www.iezvu.com/upgrade/esselte/esselte-13982.gz","ota_enforce":true}

But that guides me still not to the latest firmware, does it? I'm having lots of Wifi problems for instance: the stick boots Wifi correctly in 50% and successfully connects to my home network in maybe 10% :cry:

Dear Chatty,

Sorry for the inconvenience. After checking, we found that your dongle firmware version is the latest version, it belongs to Esselte and their newest firmware version is the version you mentioned. We are only technology provider not the manufacturer.
As a reminder, please use external USB power adapter to provide more stable power supply and WiFi connection.

Thanks for your understanding.

Have you noticed that EZCastUpgrade can't look for newest version because of trailing space? Have you noticed that my untouched stick showed EZCast5G and the probably wrongly updated stick (through EZCastUpgrade) now displays only EZCast (no 5G)? And the unstable WiFi connection is WITH external power supply already (several ones up to 12W)?

There are probably compatible and newer versions. So how do I get them flashed?
